NEXT GEN OF ENGAGEMENT RINGS

Engagement rings are evolving beyond traditional diamonds, with a growing trend towards personalization that reflects the couple’s unique story.

It is all about personal symbolism, incorporating elements like birthstones that hold sentimental value, hidden details… and so much more.

More specifically, we can recently expect to see couples opting for colored stones, unusual cuts, asymmetry, mixed metals and/or textures, hidden details, vintage inspirations (art deco in particular).

We can definitely say that colored gems are more and more avant garde and this is impacting engagement and bridal jewelry, further fueled by celebrities, from iconic Kate Middleton/Lady Diana’ sapphire , all the way to the amazing 15 rings that David Beckham gave to Victoria, or those that adorn the fingers of Lady Gaga, Eugenie of York, or Jennifer Lopez.

Speaking about celebs, since Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly worked with Stephen Webster to design a Toi et Moi emerald and diamond ring, asymmetrical rings are becoming more and more requested.

It’s not just the shapes, colors and the number of stones that are going to change but also how diamonds are set. What we are witnessing is a renewed interest in step-cut diamonds. These elongated , geometrical shapes are becoming more popular, thus bringing vintage inspirations, especially from the Art Deco period.

Mixed metals and textures is another way to make engagement rings more contemporary, but also highly personalized or unique.

Diamonds remain stable as a choice (both natural as well as lab-grown), but also here we see more color: champagne diamonds for instance are becoming super desired.

Let’s not forget the small details: this focus on individuality-driven design has fueled the popularity of small hidden details, such as halos, initials and small carving.
