SCHIAPARELLI EXTRAVAGANT ESSENTIAL

Schiaparelli’s spring/summer 2021 was once again presented off the catwalk and didn’t get unnoticed on the streets of Paris.

A proposal full of contrasts, focused on simplicity but with a strong relevance on details: jewels with a strong chromatic accent on gold are contrasting the essentiality of classic-cut pieces.

In this collection, the concept of eccentricity is never exaggerated, knowing that this Maison invented the “shocking pink” color.

“I asked myself which pieces a woman would take with her if the world would end. This is why the wardrobe is essential” says the American designer Daniel Roseberry who heads creativity at the French Maison. The new collection is based on this idea, that full represents the Schiaparelli’s woman: urban and modern but she doesn’t give up to elegance.

The simplicity of the double-breasted jackets, the t-shirts, the black suede trench coat are in contrast with the eccentricity of the gold jewels that dominate the look.

A tribute, an hymn to the woman’s body and her femininity, highlighted by the gold details that are perfectly studied. Buttons adorning the breasts, glasses with fake eyes that fix the wearer’s gaze, fingers completely covered with gold thimbles, lock-shaped pins and pendants and a golden mask (which can be reminiscent of the period we are currently living).

So, the Schiaparelli woman follows the course of events through her golden lenses and her sumptuous necklaces, hence choosing accessories and clothes that are refined and elegant in their simplicity and essentiality.
